Emilie CO #10, 11, 12, 13, 14
Date: Tuesday, 11/12, 9 a.m. - 2:50 p.m. I watched a whole day of classes--Group 3 Composition with Dr. Flemming, Group 4 Grammar with Dr. Flemming, Group 3 Reading with Dr. Ciapetta, Group 3 Speaking with Dr. Flemming, and Group 3 Listening with Dr. Rios.
Key Takeaways: It was fun to be able to shadow CIES students for a whole day! Some of the classes (like the grammar class) were more interactive, and I got to engage in the class or with the teacher. Others, like the listening class, were more quiet and the students worked on their own. (Listening is not normally like that, but the students had a midterm today, so I was basically just sitting in the class. However, even then it was good to be able to observe the format/structure of the midterm.)
At the end of these observations, the only thing I potentially regret is that I've mostly only shadowed Group 3 & 4 students. I wish I could have observed Group 1/2 students more as elementary students are the ones I feel less certain about teaching.
