Key Takeaways: It was great to be able to watch a specific group/teacher for the week! A lot of times the format revolved around making an outline of the thesis, main points, and supporting points of a passage that the students had listened to before class. Topics included coquí (a type of frog), dark skies, and Deaf culture. Going through an outline together was a great teacher-and-whole-class activity that also allowed the teacher to correct any student errors. I also learned some helpful definitions to help students put into words an author's purpose and tone:
Author's Purpose: verb + main idea (eg, to explain the impact of frogs on the ecosystem...)
Author's Tone: emotion + topic (eg, critical of racism...)
