Emilie TS #7
Student: Geena
Date/Time: Friday 11/8, 1 - 2 p.m.
Location: CIES Building
Topic: Discussing The Hunger Games
Feedback provided to the tutee: As discussed, Geena had started reading through the first Hunger Games book, and I asked her to provide a summary/feedback. Initially we had planned to do this via writing, but instead I just wrote down what she verbally said in a Google doc journal while we were meeting. I corrected incorrect grammar and asked more specific questions if the answers were too vague.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: It's important to integrate reading, speaking, and even listening! After discussing the book, we also watched clips from the movie of the corresponding scenes that she had read. I think this really helped solidify what we'd talked about. We also further discussed our plans to undertake a short story writing project.
