Topic: Talking about persuasive presentation topics, Reviewing a writing sample
Feedback provided to the tutee: I reviewed his writing sample with him and gave him feedback on his presentation idea, pointing out how a more focused scope would benefit it. I also gave him feedback on his article review after seeing that some ideas were repeated more than once.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that reviewing his work before our meetings and making the session a discussion is the best for him because he benefits from making corrections or annotations as we go through his writing. I read through one of his articles he needs to write a review for. I took notes on it for our next session for our discussion to make sure he hits all the key points and mentions them in his writing, also so I can assess if he summarized it according to the directions or is missing critical components of the article.
