Feedback provided to the tutee: We reviewed his homework, and I marked questions he should look at again and then prompted a discussion for him to break it down by talking through it. We watched a clip from a movie that we did vocabulary work on, where we broke down definitions for words, which he found more challenging. We did a speaking section on the quiz, and he was struggling with some of the comprehension of what the question was asking, so I asked him to refer back to his memories of specific moments in the clip, and he was able to use that context to understand the question.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that my tutee has a good vocabulary range but struggles with prepositions at times to make the sentence structure sound. I realized that I needed to prepare for the next lesson to be about grammar and speaking because his writing is much stronger than his speaking. The specific prepositions the tutee struggles with haven’t been identified yet, which would help target the lessons more effectively. So, I plan to structure the next lesson by focusing on explicitly teaching prepositional phrases and providing exercises that require their use in both writing and speaking. To further improve the tutee's speaking skills, I will use role-playing scenarios and conversation prompts that encourage the tutee to practice speaking in a structured way and build confidence.
