Feedback provided to the tutee: I gave her feedback on her sentence structure from interview answers she compiled from people around campus. She made some minor spelling errors and missing prepositions, but I did not correct them for her; I made sure to point out the area by reading it back to her and pausing to see if she could catch the error in her words. We reviewed her definitions of words related to essay structure for her exam tomorrow. I corrected some of the definitions by asking her to refer back to her workbook. We did a practice sentence-building exercise in preparation for her test tomorrow; she had a few preposition errors, and all else was well-written.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that she has improved her speaking a lot since we started. It feels like she now understands what I am saying rather than pretending like she does. I can see her catching onto her own errors before I point them out and only when I ask her to reread her sentence from the beginning. Sometimes, she benefits more if I am more critical of specific components of her writing because she models it better. She prefers having me make examples of alternative sentences that are correctly structured with prepositions to help her understand better.
